My dearest scum and villainy. As the year draws to an end, I’d like to thank each of you for your engagement with this detachment, for representing Underworld in troops around the world. For taking part in this hectic hobby and bringing cheer to peoples lives. This time of year, how ever you celebrate, if anything at all, please be safe, make memories and enjoy yourselves as 2024 is right around the corner. I look forward to the new year with you all and can’t wait to see what cinematic stories are shared with us and new costumes for us to obsess over. Thank you for making this year a memorable one. Hello to my favourite Scum and Villainy! We blinked and it is now May! So what has been going on lately? Did you catch our April Fools CRL? Huge thank you to our LCO Justin Sonfield for being a good sport and providing some images for us along with a laugh at the descriptions for each costume element. We also had Star Wars Celebration Europe!! If you were able to attended and we didn't cross paths - hopefully I'll see you in 2025 in Japan. The event was jam packed (quite literally) and at times a little overwhelming with how many people were actually there. It felt a little smaller than Anaheim, in terms of displays and vendors, but busier because it was a touch smaller scale venue than last year. Either way you look at it, there were fantastic costumes, cosplays, stalls and vendors to check out over the course of the four days. The Narkina 5 Medic and Inmate costumes are now published CRLs! We were hoping to get them up before Celebration, but a lot of Legion Command staff were 'out of office' at Celebration itself. We're waiting a month or so until we unlock the CRL to add more members to the gallery. We'll put the call out again when we are ready to showcase a diverse number of costumers. The lack of a CRL during Celebration itself didn't hold back some ~170 costumers from taking part in multiple Swim Team meets throughout the event, with many participants able to be on stage after the Andor panel. During Celebration itself the Underworld was able to perform two Honorary Member inductions. While unfortunately we didn't have any Egg Brothers with us for the induction, Aidan Cook (Benthic) was beyond overjoyed to be included in the HM program and delighted that we as a Detachment were grateful for his portrayal of many characters and puppets since 2015. Aidan confirmed he's been in every production, except for the Acolyte, and was hopeful that we would get to see the Egg Brothers united once more. We had a bit more difficultly with our second induction, for Andy Serkis - to the point that we didn't think it would happen - but thanks to a purchased autograph slot, and approval from his management team at the table, we were able to induct Andy on behalf of the FanWars Garrison and Underworld Detachment. We did not have a lot of time, but he was thankful for the inclusion and recognition of his roles in Star Wars to date. Both were gifted a plaque, along with a small bundle of Legion merchandise. We hope that all who attended had a wonderful time, any any con plague acquired (or Celebration exclusives) has passed swiftly. Last year I got COVID after Anaheim, this year I just had a brutal cold once I got back to Australia. I am sure that I have missed mentioning many moments shared during Celebration, but on behalf of the Detachment we hope that you had an amazing time meeting members, socialising with old friends and making new ones along the way. Over the last few weeks we have been running a poll in our Facebook Members Only Group and here on the forums for Merch for the 2023 year. We had some late approvals last term, which made it feel like we've already produced merch this term, but we have our complete suite of six slots to fill. Currently the votes stand as the following (combined from both sources): Detachment Name Badge - 6 V4 Detachment Patch - 8 2023 Racing Shirt - 15 Detachment Lapel Pin - 18 Character Coin(s) - 20 Casual T-shirt - 20 12" Large Back Patch - 21 Sabacc Series Coin & Patch - 35 We will be closing the poll on the 21st of May; and have already begun the approval process for the Sabacc Series Coin & Patch, this year featuring the Black Sun Crime Syndicate. So there is still time to vote!!! If you have any questions merch related you can always reach out to @CadBane3and @AthenaDawn for answers! We also have new PR Posters available for members to download and print locally! Last year there was some discussions around a complete overhaul of the CRL as a whole, with two options presented - one being to overhaul and change up the CRL completely, and the other to update and "keep the system working". Over the last few months, the web team have settled to "keep the system working" but the feedback received has been invaluable to prepare to future proof the CRL in the future. In the interim, @Trachta has backed up our entire CRL for the Detachment, and we will be looking to do some internal 'house keeping' on CRLs later on in the term, which I have no doubt our DCA team @Jok, @MaybeAScavenger, @TK-Tusky and@DeathStarBaby looking forward to We have two CRL's incredibly close to publication - Garsa Fwip (white dress) and the Pyke Syndicate Spice Runners. I cannot thank our members enough for all your contributions and comments over the last year as these complex costumes are worked on. We've had @Hoda join @Torvl524 in PR so you may see some posts in the not to distant future to contribute photos and volunteer for interviews We continue to have behind the scenes support for the website and complaints with @Stevenand @LawDoug. And I cannot do it alone - so thank you to @ramey for putting up with my harebrained ideas, questions at odd hours and for being the best hype team a DL could as for in a DXO. It's been a hectic year already, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings! I look forward to keeping you all in the loop as things progress throughout the year. ~Debs
